SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY (use your big monster truck voice when reading this)

Or Shabbos plus one or what ever you MITMON guys call it. The gravel road is calling and the weather looks good enough to break that cabin fever that is bringing you down. This ride promises to be 10 x more exciting then the dribble you'll find on Sweet Home Alhomoha, i.e."I'm in base three, I rode two hours on my trainer in zone 2, blah, blah, blah, zzzzzzzz. Yes, Brian I am calling you out.

Specifics: we'll leave from my house at 1:00 and take the long route, 50ish miles, approximately 4,000' of elevation gain and depending on the group three hours of ride time.

So whose in?

  1. I could be down for that. Where is the departure point and what is the pace gonna be like?

  3. feels like temperature at noon: 6 degrees. Uh, no. Don't have the gear (or desire) for that. I'll get my work in. I'll just be warmer.

  5. Read it again: I do not have the gear for a three-hour ride in single-digit temperatures. I'm more than ready for a three-hour ride on gravel, but not in those temperatures. Sorry I'm not tough enough for you.

  6. I'll be there.

Bryan I think TO may stock some gear?

Also riding on snow covered roads is great for handling skills...hows the trainer for that?

  7. sorry, I'm not going to blow a few hundred bucks to ride gravel once or twice a month. I don't like you guys that much.

  8. That hurts...now I'm just going to race in the gray kit.

  9. Consider audience. Riding dry pavement should be good for some peoples handling skills.

  10. I am game, but google maps lists Lake Forest Drive as 53rd st off of Timberlake Dr. is that right?

  14. Shim, no one cares about your old balls. If I wasn't working, I'd slap you with my single speed then demand seconds! Oh, then bury you under an IHOP (all you can eat pancakes) table. Enjoy the ice troughs, boys!

  15. Luke maybe another time soon, I'm psyc'd for the challenge.

Now Brian, this could be the best two bills you ever spend, I get far more value from my winter gear than anything else I own. One nice jacket i.e Pearl Kodiak,a base layer and a pair of amfib tights and your set. As a shop manager I'm sure you were already aware of that.

You live in Nebraska, these items will get used and they last for years.

  17. Any straight guys ride this gravel or just you homos?

  18. it's the shoes thing, Shim. I have the other stuff. And the shoes we have -- PI Barrier GTX -- I don't like. They don't fit me right.

I'll get my work in, don't worry.

  19. I have two pair of winter shoes, what size do you wear? Brady and a lot of people just use covers. I'm sure you'll get the work in, I'm just trying to add some spice to your life. I know how dreadfully boring a trainer ride in the basement is and how much I want to slit my wrist after the first 10 minutes of one.

  20. You need a trainer to slit your wrist. I thought getting out bed made you want to do that?

  21. yeah ... I wear 47s or 48s. Don't think your hooves are that big. Thanks for the offer, though.

  22. It was a great ride, not too cold and no slop an how about that scenery?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Indeed it was awesome. Thanks Shim.
